mousesports to ECS grand final over Astralis
mousesports have booked their place in the ECS Season 4 Finals title decider after defeating Astralis 2-1 (16-12 on Train, 7-16 on Inferno and 16-9 on Nuke).
The first semi-final of the day kicked off on MOUZ' map pick, Train, with the European mixture securing the CT pistol, and following that up with two anti-ecos for a 3-0 lead. A successful B execution in the first gun round marked the beginning of an impressive run from Astralis, who took a 7-3 lead.
It was only then that MOUZ were able to win their first round with guns. Still, Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný's men would not be able to find an equaliser, with the half ending with a 9-6 lead for Astralis.
After equalizing the score following their second pistol win, MOUZ got back in the lead with a fast A execution in the first gun round. The European mixture continued racking up rounds, with the scoreline blooming to a 14-9 advantage. The Danish side then found a lifeline by winning three rounds in a row, but Miikka "suNny" Kemppi then clutched a 1v2, paving the way for MOUZ to finish off Train, 16-12.
Next up was Inferno, Astralis' map pick. Starting out as Terrorists, the Danes won their first pistol round of the series, and secured a 3-0 lead after prevailing in the anti-ecos. MOUZ picked up the pace in gun rounds and eventually look the lead, but the Danes were far too hot to handle in the final stages of the half and took a 10-5 lead.
Despite winning their T-side pistol, MOUZ could not prevail against their opponents' force-buy. From that point, Astralis closed out the map fairly easily, 16-7, to take the series to a third map.
The decider map, Nuke, began with MOUZ picking up a quick 5-0 lead, forcing Astralis to call a tactical pause. That was when the Danish squad managed to counter mousesports' executions, securing five rounds in a row to level up the score.
In the following round, the Europeans picked themselves up and went on a fantastic run, eventually resetting their opponents' economy in the 13th round. Even though Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander then called a tactical pause, MOUZ remained calm and collected, securing a 9-6 lead.
Astralis came from the break much livelier and equalised the score at 9-9 after taking the pistol round and both anti-ecos. From that point, however, MOUZ were simply too hot to handle, and they went on a seven-round streak to lock down the map, 16-9, and the series, 2-1, to book their spot in the event's grand final.
